Hey guys

Should Pleco, catfish an loaches be actually fed food when using uv lights to reduce green algae in the tank? Will the light actually reduce algae to a level to starve these cleanup crew type fish?

Uv sterilizers will kill the algae in the water column, so it helps slows algae growing on sides.
Keeping away from window and sun light, and only having tank lights a few hours a day, maybe at night.
More Water changes helps to.

That's as I find as well. I get a little less algae on glass, etc running UV. But under high light still successfully grow algae

So no need to worry about these guys who will still find some algae to eat then?

Mine have always had wafers as well as I'm generally trying to keep algae off the plants.

They'll need to be fed wafers that's for sure, they'll take to normal fish food once other sources dry up.
