So far there is no plan of fish in the planted tank.

The main tank will end up with feontosas or rays. Not sure just yet.

Got heaps of sand and gravel. Need to get some aqua soil.

Not to worried about hardness just yet. Because if I put fish requiring high ph all the limestone and sand will do the job. Especially with hard stirling water.

The planted tank is 1/8th of the total volume.

Yes finally... L202. Cleaned the tank today and found tiny not quite developed plecos all over the tank. They must have been pushed out by the dad. Sadly none were alive. Hopefully next time they know what to do. Still excited they spawned. Now have to find out which 2 in the group are spawning.

Brown algae is a pain. I had it in one of the tanks. Gotta attack it right away once it gets into your substate it will hang around forever.

I tried taking the rocks and brushing it off and heaps of other methods hut it always came back.

I managed to get rid if it by doing 3 day 100% blackouts in the tank. Covered tank for 3 days with no light whatsoever. 3 bristlenose added. Had to repeat 2 more times after giving it a normal 3 day room lighting only in between.

Each time there was much less brown algae.

Dont add any chemicals for algae removal. Didnt do much for brown at all.

finished setting up late last night. 

 

They settling in today. Hopefully they color up soon.

 

Spent a big chunk of today watching them explore.

 

The discus is kind of the wife's tank. She wants to get rid of 2 discus she doesn't like.


REASON: They keep eating the cardinals... hahha... sorry but kind of funny.

So I may have 2 Discuss for sale soon.

We need to start a "Save The Fish" fund...

Found some cool tanks like this online and inspired me to attempt and make something like it. I know its not easy but ill give it a very good crack for a discus tank.

 

I just need to find a place to buy plants and rocks which won't send me completely broke :-) Paying $10 for one plant at the shop is not going to do the job...
