Haha yeah i thought they would be gone long ago but he doesnt seem to worry about them at all. I've heard they pack a fairly painfull spike and they probably taste like crap due to their diet of crap so hopefully they are safe smile.gif Its the catfish im worried about haha.

Haha hes all healed up already matt, you would never even know it happened now!

For anyone interested he scratched open his face after imogen did a water change, he doesnt like it when things get moved around and if he cant fit through a gap he used to be able to fit through he tends to force the log out of the way. Which results in the following picture.

4 days later with the water salted up a bit and you can barely even see it. Amazing how fast they can heal when in good condition and in good water.

Also ut up a video of him getting a nice fat juicy king prawn as a christmas present. Lovely smile.gif

Video looks crap on youtube unfortunately, still a good watch though. He's a bit skittish because he doesnt like the camera but still hits it hard and does a nice colour change to stripes as hes chomping down the prawn chunk.

Great job, he looks nice an healthy, very nice looking fish, Id say your success would be inspiring more people to try to keep them. I wonder if its possible to breed them in captivity? I guess it depends on how they spawn?

Cheers
Den smile.gif

i dont think its been done in a tank before.. there's a chick in QLD that farms them though, that says it's fairly easy when overstocking adults, you just have to remove them afterwards unsure.gif

Haha cheers guys, hes a lot of fun to keep but hes also lots of work. They are a real bio load on a tank and they are just so bloody agressive. We've been lucky so far with the scats and the catfish but im pretty keen on getting the cats out of there soon. Hes even starting to eye off my hand when im doing water changes and tank cleans. I've been bitten once "softly" and it sucked. Going to have to start wearing gloves soon haha.

Heres the latest video of the jack being a bit of a nutcase fish as per usual. Had a left over dead mouse after my snakes were finished eating and thought id give it to jack, seems he quite enjoys them too. He hits the glass pretty damn hard before jumping out of the tank through the crack in the lid and stealing the mouse. Hitting his nose in the process. Psycho little bugger..

No mice were harmed in the making of this video, they were already dead. smile.gif

PCS Committee Note: Feeding your fish vertebrates is not recomended and that the feeding of live vertebrates may be illegal

Hes beginning to earn his tankbuster reputation, as youll see in the first few seconds of the video. Im bloody glad hes getting upgraded to a 6x2.5x2.5 with 12mm glass to hold him back haha.

He would be bang on 25cm i'd say. I've been limiting his food intake till the new tank arrives so he didnt outgrow the smaller one. Got the new one sitting in the lounge room empty at the moment. Gotta put in the 3d background and get it all running and cycled and in he goes!

Haha dont say that dude! I'm already planning on getting the weighted perspex lids made up. I figure if i dont excite him TOO much i dont think he will break the 12mm. Plus, the bloody thing was heavy enough with 12mm!

Its a really well made fully braced tank too, would be a hard one to break smile.gif
