Finally the Finance Minister (wife) has granted funding for a fishroom.

I have the shed approx 3m x 5m x 2m high and need some advice on how best to insulate it and where to buy the materials . . .

I was thinking about thick polystyrene sheets but would like to hear if this is the best way to go?

thanks, Tim

New styrene can be obtained from
R/max, 5 Baldwin St Kewdale WA 6105 Ph: (08) 9353 1000
in varing sheet sizes and thicknesses, otherwise try cool room installers for second hand cool room insulation.
I haven't bought this kind of thing for years so don't know what prices are like these days. There is also a brown spray on stuff - 'spray foam' or similar - but not sure of its insulation qualities as it is a fairly thin coating.
Good luck.

Hi Tim,

Try Kalamunda Ice Works on Welshpool Rd, just before Leach Hwy on the left (heading west - toward Perth). They have some second hand insulating styro for sale sometimes. Alternatively, try Rocco Pizzanno's Fruit and Veg on Wleshpool Rd also (just before Roe Hwy overpass on the left heading east - toward the hills).

good luck

A guy I know used polystyrene 'offcuts' - called skins
they were about 6' x 4' and the thickness varied along the length off the sheet (say 10mm - 25mm) - hence not much use commercially. he got them for free. Dunno where. but you could try Yellow Pages for manufacturers and ask for "skins".

Thanks everyone . .Austral were very helpful and I now have enough for my fishroom which will be insulated with at least 5cm of polystyrene.

But what to put on the concrete floor to make it easier under the feet as well as add an extra layer of thermal protection? Any ideas?

Tim
