What to do .? We had a power failure last night luckily only lasted 30 minutes so i could go and prime the filters when it cam back on.. But if it goes off Should u turn the power to the filters off so they dont burn out ?? Or if you think the power may go out put Aquaclears on - low because they seem to prime faster that way so u may be a bit safer(if u cant be there to prime them) ??? Any auggestions would be appreciated

cant help I'm afraid - dont use the aquaclears

when the power goes off in some filters the water drains out and wont work properly when the power comes back on because there is no water in the filter, priming them means having enough water in them so when the power is turned on they work - some filters are self priming and others you have to add the water yourself.

With aquaclear filters u have to have water in them before you turn them on or they will stuff up.

I have had a few blackouts but the water didnt drain out and it was all good. BUt the last power cut it fully drained out and when the power came on again it was making a weird noise and quickly turned it off. luckly i was there.

My AC makes a weird noise all the time it's on, so I don't use it at the moment. I've been talking to Boronia (where I bought it) but we still can't find a solution The noise is a sort of rattle in the motor/impeller thingy..

Hi peddigree,

In the case of a power outage I don't do anything special with the aquaclears,, if its in the evening I stay up until the power comes back on then go check all the aquaclears and fill any that have drained. But if your concerned and not sure is your going to be around when the power comes back on it might be best to pull the plug.

rattling impellors are sometimes caused by a build up of crud, and not necessarily around the impellor but elsewhere, like in the intake system. If the water flow gets restricted the impellor can rattle.

I had a Eheim cannister that rattled, turned out the impellor was faulty though you couldnt see it. Boronia replaced it free and they paid postage too.

The way I found the problem was I just swapped the impellor with a quiet filter and the noise swapped to the other filter - so it must have been the impellor at fault.

From my knowledge bengaboy the rattling noise has been there since he bought it so i dont think its cloged up yet.
