gutter guard as bio balls

Has anyone thought of using gutter guard as bio-balls?

Im interested to know as I just bought a second hand sump yesterday and it had gutter guard in it.
Just wondering if it will do the job or should I get new bio balls?

i have been running this setup for a number of years and can say it works very well smile.gif

Shade colth is good to, though make sure it hasent been spayed against uv with anything
