I have a 2 footer with plants but no fish. The only "livestock" are some pesky little snails. Is there any way to kill off the snails which won't damage my plants too much? This tank is running co2. Not sure if that makes a difference

Looking for recommendations

Thank you

Loaches keep pest snail population levels to a lower level, and are therefore a bandaid approach. I would prefer a permanent solution short of stripping the tank. Tank is only 2 foot as well, so wouldn't be great for loaches. Appreciate the suggestion though

Yes, I would of gone for yoyo loaches as in my tank anything from pond snails to ramshorn snails are fair game (albeit it takes them a bit to totally remove). Malaysian trumpet snails and mystery snails they have no luck with. Interesting question - hope you have luck with this. Chain or Pygmy loaches I'm told will also tackle snails however I'm not sure if they are available here. I found with the mystery snails they were getting shell damage in a co2 injected tank but I don't know if that will do them in. It's been ages since I tried a snail rid product so can't really help there. One other is I was dosing glut in a small tank and noticed the pond snails were going. It was fairly gradual over several months. Probably at a double or triple dose to normal eg api co2 booster. I asked around and got told that there could be a link between the glut and snails but didn't get enough replies to confirm. I'll see if I can find it. Although sensitive plants might find it a double-edged sword. Never tried traps. Edit - found it. Snails were meant to be more sensitive to glut but not confirmed. Craig
