gee hawthorn are looking good at the moment.... no wonder they are favourite to win the flag again...

westcoast are second favourite by the bookies.... not quite sure if they are there yet... although they keep winning and beating good sides lately - the test will come after this week when they play gold coast.... then its hawks and freo.. or is it freo then the hawks... if west coast win one or both games i think the reality will hit home that they are a genuine contender this year....

hows the goodes blow up in the media this week.... i am so disappointed in goodes behaviour as of late... hes fallen from being a footy champion to the games biggest sook... and the debacle of the media wanting to be politically correct... and the afl not wanting to be seen the slightest bit racist because of the people involved,..

and maclachlans comments that if we boo goodes we are booing every indigenous player... i was infuriated when i heard this.... of the 71 listed indigenous players in the afl i find it remarkable that goodes is the only one being booed.... but ballantyne crowley get booed all the time from opposing teams supporters.... and we remember when cary , brereton , libratore were all booed... and what about big bad barry hall - he got booed all the time after punching out staker in game against westcoast...  and remember ol chris lewis from west coast - he got booed because he bit another player and also got suspended on many occasions for doing bad stuff on the field... you get booed by supporters for what you do on the field... its that simple... west coast fans remember goodes running straight through an eagles youngster last season and never got suspended for it... but if another player did it they would have gone for 2-3 weeks.... and this interaction with the crowd chucking spear dance during the game is not on.... the afl should of fined both goodes and jetta for bringing the game into disrepute... nip this situation in the bud before it gets out of hand.... if goodes wants to do his war spear chucking dance he should be given time before the game starts to do it... much like kiwis do the haka.... its a pity goodes didnt retire when he was at his best... he would be remembered as an all out champion of the game.... hes 35 and the game has gotten too quick for him and now he stages for free kicks and reverts to using dirty tactics in order to get a kick... sad to see...

I wonder if it's all a big put on for footy publicity.
All the hoo har talk puts footy in the spot light.
I'm pretty sure there's always been some monkey in the crowd yelling racist shiteness.

That's one thing that shites me to, over sensitive people (the receiver and surrounding people), getting upset at racist behavior at the drop of a hat, they should turn a blind eye.
There's going to always be racist idiots. It's really nothing new.

Thanks BigJohnno. Nice post.

On the radio they were talking about it, I think he has made it worse now. Obviously it was all getting to him, but unfortunately the general public will be unforgiving and now ramp up their booing efforts, as it will be a laugh.

People like trying to upsets others. You need a thick skin if you want to be a sports star/celebrity. It comes with the territory

But aside, they were suggesting, yes do your war dance/aboriginal dance/karrobary, but not at the spectators (it means nothing to us) but at the other team.

They're ones your about to play, strike fear in your opposition!

What a bunch of grab-assing this has turned out to be. I used to like Aussie Rules but about 10 years ago I got so sick of the fact it more resembled day time TV than sport I stopped watching or caring.
This kind of crap is typical AFL jerk-off drama. It really has turned into an embarrassment.

To each their own.

Johnno the Hawks have always looked good in brown and gold. It's just been a media beat up to sell papers, who said it was racist ( the media ). Don't believe everything they say. The crowd are just booing him to put him off his game because he is a very good player and can be a match winner. If you do a war dance at someone then expect there to be a war.

P.s Let the war games begin, GO THE MIGHTY FIGHTING HAWKS.

if Goodes and Jetta were white they would have been fined around 5k for their inappropriate gestures like some white players have for making signs to the fans – the fans keep the clubs financial  - there is at least a third of them pissed off before this week and now I’d say quite a few more - I don't believe I'm racial at all - I worked with an Aboriginal for years - just the 2 of us as no one else would work with him as he wouldn't use deodorant - didn't worry me he was a top block and had a wicked sense of humor and we had a lot of laughs  - no way is he booed because of race just like the other 70 indigenous players aren’t being booed – well it will most likely be 69 now as Jetta will probably soon find out - he's had his Mum who had the guts to go on TV begging the fans to leave him alone while he said nothing - I thought he is 34 but ok he could be 35 but a normal person would be too embarrassed to have their Mum do that - after this week his behavior has only incited more more haltered towards him - He's his own worst enemy - now a Rugby team is going to wear their indigenous Guernsey in support - that is crazy as they could well cop the same treatment - you treat the fans like shit they are only going to give a heap more - at the same time I don't condone some of the inappropriate names he has been called and that just isn’t right but booing has to be a right for the fans and playing the racial card after the shit he has put on people should not be tolerated - football has always been a tough game and there has been a lot of reference to your family members to try to unsettle your opponent but a 13 year old girl getting to you - go to Bunning’s - grab a bag of cement and harden up - I'm playing the card "I have a right to my opinion" and I will respect yours – even if you are wrong.

exactly mate Michael gardener got fined for making handcuff gesture to his mates in prison was bringing the game into disrepute so what's the difference with that and jettas antics , there is no race difference inaustralia we are all just Australian

i remember the cuffs gesture now you brought it up.... :)

but even bigger than that hawks got slayed by the tigers :) :) :)  wow didnt see that coming... there goes my footy tips this week... wont be any 9/9 :(

and for malawiman - i agree todays footy is a watered down game compared to what it used to be like.... and all the rule changes has created more problems so they make more changes to try and fix it up... just not working....

3 interchange players and a sub have changed the games speed and how its played... pre-rule changes if you wanted a rest you went down to a forward pocket and you stayed in your own forward area....  now every bloke gets a rest and then back out at full speed...

i reckon go back to 2 interchange players and have 2 subs... and subs can only be activated when the player they replace has come off with a serious injury... and this injured player will be inelligible to play for 2 weeks...

I agree about games being watered down. I'm a rugby league fan from way back and when I see two front rowers at a combined weight of 250kgs slapping each other in the face in fear of suspension by having a closed fist... well you know times have changed haha...

Sorry for code hoping guys!

I reckon one of the WA teams will take the flag this year - And as far as the Goodes situation - What do you think was going to happen by doing a war dance in front of an opposing crowd? But booing racist? C'mon!

I'm not a racist and I boo during matches and will never change that, but interesting to note that we have an indigenous week in sporting codes but not a Caucasian week... now who's being racist.

Growing up in country NSW and being one of only two families that weren't white in a small town of 16,000 you cope with the good times and the bad times and I think it only made me a stronger person. If you want to dish it out, you should be able to take it too!

if people really want to know how tough the game used to be watch the 89' Grand Final between Geelong and Hawthorn - as far as I know it's still available on DVD and probably will for hundreds of years to come - it's not pretty but it's cemented in older peoples head’s of how tough a man playing the game was back then.- what Dermott Brereton achieved that day even out strips Supernan  - any other player would have gone to hospital these days but he stuck out the game and was exceptional  - he must have been in incredible pain but gave 110% - they were so focused on their game they wouldn't have even heard what the crowd were saying – all they cared about was the job at hand – winning the game and that’s what they get paid for and nothing else matters except getting the 4 points and sticking with your team mates through thick and thin - I have to be clear the first bounce of this game the umpire should have the power to stop the game and send off Mark Yates who then should have been suspended for life for what he did – I’m pleased to say I’ve never seen anything like it since but correct me if I’m wrong an Umpire still doesn’t have that power………My guess before TV there would have been a lot more of this extremely violent antics on the field –there’s not many people around old enough to ask - I think it's time to drug test the Richmond players though................

It's all part of the bigger picture Jas, no one wants there team going into the finals on a 15 game winning streak. Drop one now and start another, also Richmond played at there very best and Hawthorn were no where near there best. We will get them in the finals where it counts. Come on the Hawks Back to Back to Back, i like the sound of that it's rather a catchy tune. Back to back to back cha cha cha, back to back to back cha cha cha. Join in the chorus and sing it one and all, join in the chorus i'm sure you will all agree that Hawthorn is the team to go back to back to back cha cha cha. :)

Have you swapped teams now Johnno since the weagles couldn't beat the second bottom team gold coast.

Jas when we win the flag this year the three of us will come stand along side of you at a PCS meeting back to back to back.

Jason's car was seen out the front of Robs Aquarium but he never went inside... I guess we know where he was and what he was doing.
