Yes to fish handling fee of $1... for someone to check air/water ratio and add a drop of Prime... means saving a fishy's life.

Happy to donate $1 per bag of fishies to the club.

I like Androo's idea of the foam eskies with air stones.

I think we do need to find an easier way of selling off NON-fish items, like all the driftwood, rocks/coral and Aqua One 102's:

Everything on a side table at 7pm latest. Individual bidding list under each item to write down your max bid and Online Name/Mobile Number. Bidding on non-fish items closes at the end of the Mid-Auction break. Auctioneer's assistant gathers up the lists - at the end of the fish auction, Auctioneer calls out name of highest bidder and if successful - then if reserve not met gives it back to the floor to offer more.

Going off what the finish time is now, I think it's best to keep it as is. If people bag the fish correctly then it should be all good

I think it would be a good idea to post guidelines for bagging fish. We are meant to charge a fee for re-bagging but we rarely do it as we don't worry about the money.

We are really limited in what we can do because of time. Most committee members, myself included, cannot get to the hall early enough to set up multiple tanks etc. It's a great idea in theory I just don't think it will be practical given our current limitations.

I'm liking the idea of having silent auctions for driftwood, equipment etc and leaving the live auction for the fish. I will definitely put that to the committee to consider.

im sure there is some non committee members who would be willing to donate some time to help out, i mean a lot of regulars just sit around talking before the auction, i know its a social event but even if a few people give 10 minutes each it makes a big difference, i was helping sellers get their fish from their vehicles to help speed things up

It sounds good in theory Bermont but I doubt you could rely on the people assistance all the time....

Do you guys ever have these auctions over the weekend? I live in Katanning, and to drive down to Perth and back is around 7 hrs in total (in daylight. Driving at night is alot slower since there are Kangaroo's hopping in front of cars all the time.. so gotta slow down). I can't leave at 11pm and be back home around 4.30am. I am sure you guys decided on Tuesdays for a reason, but can I ask why? Perhaps if you were to have the auctions on a Saturday morning more people from outside of Perth might be able to make it too?

Well if meetings and auctions are always on Tuesday afternoon's, that means I would probably never be able to visit unless I take the Tuesdays and Wednesdays off work. lol I doubt the mrs's would be too impressed if I took 2 days off midweek to visit 'the fish people' as she calls it :P

Why not try to combine them both on a saturday? It would seem to me that alot more people could visit on a saturday morning / afternoon than on a tuesday evening? But then again I am new here, you guys have a schedule for a certain reason and I am just not aware of them yet.

Everyone always used to complain about Tuesday auctions, so I booked the hall for a Saturday (Only day we could get enough committee members to turn up), organised all bookings, and made it happen.

Here's the result CLICKY
