WOW would have never thought Katherine of all places to have cichlids. Good on you for starting it up. Are you keeping any FW species from any local waters?

Thanks Guys,

In one 5 foot I have a range of Discus and a large Royal whiptail and school of Rummy Nose, discus range from 8cm up to 16cm. The Tangayika Tank hold 15 Cyprichromis, 6 Neolamprolugus Leleupi, 1 Julidochromis Transricptus and a few princes chchlids which are soon to be moved.

As far Cichlids in Katherine I have started a small hobby business from home and have been bringing in a wide range if Cichlids including Frontosa, I would really like to become the go to man in the NT as far as Cichlids go. There is a large German shipment arriving later this month I have good access to some great fish and have already taken orders for Frontosa.

Katherine is 300k away from Darwin Airport so I am not offering shipping but later I hope to offer a monthly shipping service.

One day I would love to work with full time but now I still gotta pay the bills

Thanks for the welcome :-)

Hi Daz,

Your are right a lot of Cichlid are not allowed in the NT but Cyps, Trophues, Frontosa (over 12cm) and a lot of others are. Until July this year we were not allowed to have Oscars.

Electric yellows are on the not allowed list which is a shame as they are my fav Malawi cichlid. The strict allowed list in the NT drives a lot of fish keepers underground and there are plenty of banned fish in aqauriums all over the NT. Me, well I play by the rules and make the most out of the fish we can have and dont waste much time dwelling on the fish I cant have.

If anyone is interested I can send through an approved NT list.

Cheers

Dean
