It would not look very good but it is best in aquaculture to have a grate about 5-10cm tall off the bottom that has blue maron or even normal maron inside. Then above have your barramundi so the food waste falls into the grate where your clean up crew are biggrin.gif.

My barramundi's 6 foot has a Ehiem pro and a Sump and we still can't feed him so much. He is in a tank with 3 black bream and we used to have marron but they got eaten quite quickly sad.gif

Our barra is in 8.0 ph water as they are incredibly hardy and better for the Bristlenose in the tank with them. The tank is kept at 26 c using a 300watt heater. Also make sure you have high airation. We have 3 venturi's and large air stones.

Btw this is my blue maron, she is extremely bright and i got her from the guy i did work experience with. He breeds them and they are so amazingly blue. He uses basically what people do in fish and gets the brightest and breeds them. She is 8cm

I am attempting to breed this female but i need to raise up my other maron biggrin.gif.

I might get in trouble for this  but i think some stores need to get in better strains of Electric Blue Marron. That one is bred out of the best and the guy i did work exp with had ones 20cm or so and still as blue as that! Of course though normal maron can attack and beat the jeepers out of electrics because they are allot weaker and don't grow as big sad.gif

Here's a pic of my barra in my 6x2x2 marine tank. Adapted him from fresh to salt over a 5-6 hour period.

Also if you want to save money i would go with Rainbow trout they are $3 for 10cm or so sized ones. They are cold water and beautiful fish here is a picture from google:

I would avoid the barra because they grow very large and due to the flow water movement and lack of room even in a 8 foot tank. They require about 5000 liter tanks when you aquaculture them. So (sorry if i offend others) to eat them would be mushy as there is no muscle and unless you have quite salty water it would have a very bland taste. Ours we intend to move to the new 5000 liter setup once it is done and remember they are FAST growers 1kg of food they grow by 500grams 8O

But that is just my opinion they are lovley and very owner responsive fish! He follows you and takes food all the time. Just like all tank busters make sure you can allow sufficient room when they grow up biggrin.gif

Ok if you go with barra.
Just have what i have a very natural tank, Barra Black bream and Plecos or bristlenose (10cm+). I would avoid the Black Bream like a plague! 8O

Who ever was responsible for putting them in aquaculture didn't think that one through! They are so territorial they will kill there own kind, we lost one as soon as a bit of driftwood was put in (they take fallen trees as territory).

No time at all, We fed them 3 times a day and they grew to about 30cm or so. But we had a power failure and the solar panels where soon to be hooked into a back up system

I can get you the trout at about $3 each not sure but about 10-15cm.
