After seeing the results of other great DIY background projects on here I have finally got myself into the garage and tried one myself, it's going in a 6ft breeding tank so if it isn't the best looking one it really didn't matter, I am using this one for ideas and hopefully learn what to do and what not to do before I make some for my display tanks. The end result is nothing like I had planned or imagined but still I think it will be OK for a breeding tank This is just a picture slide show I put on YouTube. Any comments, suggestions of improvement or questions would be welcome.
Many thanks for viewing. Sorry about the music, I stupidly let YouTube randomly choose it...
I saw in bunnings today that the PondTite is in clear also. So if you colour your concrete then you could go over it with a couple of layers of clear PondTite, it would also smooth it out lots rather than that rough finnish of concrete. Better for fish grazing on growing algea.
Added.... Just to let you know I got some Clear PondTite and went over my DIY background wih it, it leaves a good top clear coat over the concrete but the finished look is very shinny which I didn't want. I will wait and see how it looks when water is added..
OK its been a long long time coming and I bet a few of you have forgoten about this post but if your still interested here is the youtube video of the tank set up. My kids have claimed it for now so all has been set up by them, fish choice too (not my choice). I hope they keep an interest but if not then I score anothr tank for me....
