Hi guys,

I'm currently cycling one of the first 'larger' tanks I ever bought and am hoping to breed some angel fish in it.
Only problem is that I also wanted to get a nice aquascape going on with some plant life, some natural slate and gold vine.
I still need to fit some better lights than the single 24" tube currently in it.

My questions are:

A. How many 24" tubes am I looking at to get some low light plants to thrive? (The tank is 50cm top to bottom)
B. Are angels easy enough to breed in a planted tank in terms of retrieving eggs? I imagine having a designated breeding cone would help.

Any advice is welcome.

Cheers

They will more than likely spawn on the nicest leaf on your favourite plant. I have had them breeding on a piece of slate for years and as soon as a sword plant is put in that's were they spawn.

Thanks for the info Terry.
While you're 'here', can you give me an idea as to what ideal water conditions are for breeding angels?

Cheers

My PH is usually around 7 to 7.5  I don't bother with Kh or GH, don't overcrowd them and do weekly 20% waterchanges.

So they aren't too fussy?
I've kept a good 5-10 angels before ranging from 2cm-12cm but have never attempted to breed them.
I plan to get my substrate ASAP just as soon as I find the best 'value for money' option.

What strains of proven breeders have you got at the moment Terry?

Cheers

And just quickly, are hybrid angels frowned upon?
I have just come across a group of six angels for a good price and am considering trying to get a pair or two out of them.

Cheers
