Scientific Name: Melanochromis interruptus
Pronunciation: Melen-o-chro-mis in-ter-rupt-us
Trade Name(s): None
Distribution: Southwest Chizumulu
Habitat: Rocky Area's
Diet: Aufwuchs, Invertebrates
Sexing: Males are dark blue/black with light blue dots & stripes through the body.
Females are yellow/ orange
Maximum Size: 12cm
Temperature: 24 to 26c
pH: 7.5 to 9.0
Water Hardness: 300-400ppm
Availability: Available in Oz
Comments: One of the best Melanochromis IMO, they are easy to breed, Look great in a display tank and aren't overly agro. They will also breed with out changing to the Male adult coloration.

At what age/size does the males change to blue/black from the juvenile yellow/orange?

 

I believe that they will breed while still in their juvenile color as mentioned above.

 

Also I know that the conditions they get raised will depend on the age/size. Just after a rough estimate?

Trying to remember the info from deep insode the dark space between my ears.....

 

From memory I bred them around 3cm - 4cm (ruler measurement) They changed color aroound 4cm - 5cm.

 

Its been awhile though.... Maybe I should get some more, they are cool little Malawi's.
