A while back I bought a second hand 6 ft tank that didnt come with a light unit, so I decided to make one, with a total cost of about $30.

So I ducked down to bunnings and picked up some plastic guttering, end caps and silver flashing/roofing insulation tape




Simply line the inside with tape, chuck the end on and viola:


I also put a strip of pine along the back of the unit to give ti support, once the weight of components was in it, there was some twisting movement.

The next part involved a qualified electrician, lucky for me I had one handy. The final result:
