#359068 Roe 8 Protests: Good Bad Or Ugly?

Posted by extend on 29 January 2017 - 07:26 AM

For all you herpers and those who aren't, this dugite was almost stepped on by my brother on friday at one of the roe 8 site, then caught and released.  Must have been close to 2m long.  I was joking to him and said that they should have gotten the snake and put it in the middle of the protest camp and told them to look after it.

#359062 Roe 8 Protests: Good Bad Or Ugly?

I want to know what people think about the protests going on around the Roe 8 project?  My brother is a surveyor and he says that environmental policy on the site is very strict and thorough. They have to stop work if a snake, bandicoot, bee eater or any other native animal is seen and it needs to be removed before work can start again.  Plants are documented and removed when possible so the project is trying its hardest to be as environmentally sensitive as possible and certain people groups are trying to discredit such hard work.  He also has plenty of other stories of protestors smearing poo inside of the portable toilets they themselves hired.

There will always be good numbers of mackies in the summer time off of rotto. Nothing like when they were a regular occurrence off north mole a few years back. And also long tail tuna being caught in the harbour

Came back from a new years party and found a leptosoma kitumba with a fresh mouthful. Not a bad way to see in the new year.

Daphnia wont will dissapear during the summer unless you can keep the water cool enough. I worked at a koi farm a few years ago and winter to early spring was daphnia boom time. We would have plant ponds red with fat daphnia, my cichlids also grew madly during said time.

#355789 Callochromis Macrops From Robs

Posted by extend on 08 October 2016 - 07:29 PM

I went to robs aquariums today and he had some Callochromis macrops in the shop, so I bought 6 of them.  If you keep an eye on the Facebook page, Rob told me there were more good quality and rare tanginyikan cichlids coming in the next couple of weeks, if people are that way inclined.  He has a nice quality ventralis colony and some black calvus.

I noticed a female from the Cyprichromis leptasoma kitumba I bought from aquotix a few months ago now has a mouthful.  She is small still but I'm pretty happy to see them get started young.
