The next meeting of the Perth Cichlid Society will be an Auction night on Tuesday, November 1st.

We are now taking bookings for lots. Please PM your lots to Mattia ASAP on PCS Forum.

Please note - The first 2 weeks of lots is "cichlid lots" only. This is to ensure the people selling cichlids get a chance to get lots in and the auction has plenty of cichlids to offer.

The auction will be held at our new venue Atwell College, 201 Brenchley Drive, Atwell 6164. We will be opening doors early to get lots booked in. There will be a brief viewing time before the auction. Please park your cars in the car park marked, do not enter the school gates.

  •
  • We will have another Fish of the Month. This month's FoTM is TBA.  We will have a bag of fish to discuss and auction off, with proceeds to Stuart grant Fund for Cichlid Preservation. Learn about the fish and then take some home.

  • There will be an update on the clubs progress with Stuart Grant Fund for Cichlid Preservation. There will be a new book for auction - Malawi Cihlids 5th Edition - signed by Ad Konings. Your donations and involvement is helping this great cause preserve the fish in our hobby and the wonderful rift lakes.

  • October 2016 Photo Comp winners will be announced and prizes handed out for our lucky winners from our PCS sponsors - Aqua-Pics & Pet Magic

  • Grab some raffle tickets for our Sponsor prize table full of awesome aquarium hobby items. There will be a major prize to win!! Don't forget 20% of raffle goes towards the Cichlid Preservation Fund.

  • In the PCS Kitchen we will have delicious food for you to buy. We will also have hot and cold drinks. Don't forget 20% of kitchen purchases goes towards the Cichlid Preservation Fund.

Please note -

  • There will be no PCS Library or PCS Show Table this meeting.

  • The doors will open just on 7:10pm to start processing lots. Lot viewing will start at 7:45pm.
  • No lots will be accepted into the auction after 7:40pm.

You will have a short period in which to view the lots commencing at 7:45pm. View the lots carefully before bidding as once you win, you own it. The lot area will be sectioned off and we ask that everyone remain behind the sectioned off area at all times, with the exception of the viewing period. Lots will only be dispersed at the end of the auction. This means you will need to remain until the end and be patient to collect your winning lots. The lots will be collected by PCS Committee members for you. Nobody is permitted to collect their own lots.

The PCS Raffle will feature great items and as major prizes -

1st prize - from Aquotix.

I really, really want to come down to this meeting and auction tonight...
But with the little one, and seeing just how far away it is on google maps, it may just not be feesable to travel that far on a weeknight at the moment.
Pretty bummed but probably just can't make it at this stage...may change last minute, but doubtful. :(
I hope you guys have a really good night. :)

It's a fair trek - but it's tomorrow night. Auctions are a late night. We try our best to finish bidding by 10:30. With 30 minutes to sort out payments etc that means people are leaving closer to 11. Travel for an hour after that and put any fish you bought into tanks and it'll be 1 am before you get to sleep. It's a long night but 100 odd people showing up for it last time - lots of people passionate about the hobby in Perth who do more than just say as much on a forum ;)

Spare a thought for committee like dicky and Eileen who have to stay back later to clean up and then travel halfway across the metro area - those two deserve a lot of gratitude from members, although I reckon they get a lot of enjoyment out of it too.

Anyway, we'll catch you at the next one Hood - book a day off for the Wednesday or just chuck a sickie ;)

Oh my bad, tomorrow night it is. I meant no offense to anyone by my comment.
I was merely making a comment about the distance and struggling to leave my 6 week old son with the Mrs for that long on a week night at the moment, since she has spent all day looking after him.
That and I have a factory to start at 5am so late week nights are hard. But no-body else's problem, just mine. I really was wanting to make the effort to get down to meetings this time around,
but the distance really will be more of an issue than I had initially realised (not realising the meeting place had moved further south). Dunno 'bout the sickie as the factory doesn't really run properly without me there, has played havoc with having the kid and tryin' to have time off. hahaha

I do thank all the PCS members who do so much to make it all work, all I was really wanting to do was wish you guys luck with the meeting and auction since I may not be able to make it down.
Thank you all again. :)

Just throwing this out there.... anyone live up my way and ever want to car pool?
Could be less of a tedious trek if shared from time to time. :)

No offense taken mate - just took the opportunity to outline expected finishing times as the committee are aware the late finish is a major barrier for some people and others come for the first time not expecting to finish so late.
