#293580 Angelfish Breeding Tips And Info!

Posted by Terry on 28 August 2013 - 08:07 AM

This is our method of raising angel fry it was written by Ronda about 2 years ago

We can supply  breeding pairs of black angels.

If they spawn on the glass place a piece of slate in that spot, on a slight angle and collect the eggs next time.

If they spawn on a leaf, remove the eggs from the tank, and place them in a dedicated small tank, using large plastic clothes pegs to weigh down the leaf.  It is okay to take them out of the water for a small period of time.  Remove any snails that may be amongst the eggs.  Put an airstone in the tank to replicate the parents moving water over the eggs with their fins.   We place one teaspoon of ph down to nine litres of water and add half strength Methylene Blue or a similar fungicide to help stop the eggs fungusing.

After three days the eggs will start hatching.  At this stage we change the airstone for an aged sponge filter and add one teaspoon of activated carbon to the tank.

At ten days the fry should be free swimming.  You will have to start feeding them newly hatched brine shrimp.  Start the brine shrimp hatching about 36 hours before you need them.  Keep the bottom of the tank clean.  We add a couple of red snails once we start feeding the brine shrimp to help keep the bottom of the tank clean.

We manage to raise several hundred fry from each batch using this method.

#286651 Stop Thief

Posted by Terry on 13 June 2013 - 08:30 PM

The Anon person is probably me. Graeme thank you for the offer, we don't care about the plant it's all about the fact that it was stolen.

This matter was resolved today with a phone call from the thiefs partner/wife. In consideration for the thiefs family we will not name him or take the matter any further.

Thank you to all the people who sent PMs to Ronda and myself, take this post as an answer to all of the PMs.

No further comments will be made.

My post was made with a smile too, I was going to suggest that he put her in the freezer overnight to make her egg more viable
