Is it possible to keep a mangrove jack in freshwater only not brackish would like to know as I am keen to obtain one

Yeah mate I did for over a year 


And Ice had one for a few years in fresh im pretty sure too

Yep, they will do fine.

 

The only time I ever added salt was in case of any injury, mine grew to 50+cm before I lost it due to western power having an unplanned outage without letting anybody know and me not having a UPS set up.

 

I'm currently growing out another little one in full fresh water.

 

You'll need a big tank though mate!

6x2x2 is too small mate, my jack was starting to look too big for my 6x2.5x2.5 at 50cm, they are quite a thick explosively powerful fish.

6x2x2 would be fine for a while though.. :) I had mine in one till 40 cm
