Pseudoplatystoma fasciatum is the noxious listed catfish in Western Ausralia. However this is just one of about five species commonly referred to as a "Tiger shovel-nose". Pseudoplatystoma fasciatum and Pseudoplatystoma tigrinum are the two most common though, I have seen both in Australia in the past. They are hard to tell apart at a young age, but it becomes quite obvious after about 30cm. Not ALL "Tiger Shovel-nose" are noxious listed in Western Australia.
Merodontotus tigrinus is not noxious listed, nor is it a "Tiger shovel-nose", these fish have the common name Zebra catfish or Zebra shovel-nose. I have not seen these available in Australia for many years, which is a shame as they are a lovely fish.
Apologies for any spelling errors, I don't have time to google right now.

To anyone wanting to keep the non-noxious tiger shovelnose. Don't bother unless you have a tank that is at least 10' long and a minimum of 4-5' wide. They are very active, and have a habit of smashing themselves up on tanks when startled.

max size is around 60cm although a few have been known to get a little bigger...
there was one for sale over east recently but wasnt the best quality and was sporting some scarring down one side towards its tail... price was $1500...
a couple people i know that have kept them reckon a smaller tank of 6x2x2 was better as they didnt smash themselves up as was said above...
