Unsure if the correct forum but I'm looking for an additional food source for my rays, particularly since I'm expecting pups shortly.

I have used prawns in the past - both coral and river prawns, however I'm chasing quantities of I guess glass shrimp or a small type of prawn in large frozen quantities - kgs at a time.

I cant find anything like this in a bait range so I presume I have to go for a human grade type of small shrimp. I have checked with my local fish monger and they cant help. Anybody know or seen this available before?

Thanks.

...this might sound stupid, but just a thought...would the offcuts from a fish monger potentially be ok?

Yeah I already buy whitebait, salmon frames etc for my fishes from my local fish monger, just looking for another type of shrimp or prawn as rays main diets are crustaceans apparently from further reading ive been doing.

Prawns are the closest thing I can get but they have been related and known to cause Thiamine poisoning too and I've lost a ray in the past to what I believe was this, so I'm chasing an alternate/additional food to mix up the diet.

Is it legal to fish for glass shrimp? if so, how and where is a good place to go?

How small? What about week old marron... Pretty small. Not sure on availability or price but might be worth a look.

yeah there good to, anything will work and be eaten, just trying to find a couple of kilos of these kind of foods at a time is hard.

Pet Magic Bibra Lake sell frozen flat packs of large krill (about the size of a finger nail).
