that'll be 2mm semi-sinking SS pellets.

BYAP is a long drive from up our way. A much cheaper and easier way is to contact Stirling Bulk Distributors, out in tenterden (WA disributor for skretting( - Speak to Jan.
She'll be able to sell you a part bag of the skretting pellets and send it via auspost to your house. MUCH cheaper and and easier than driving out to BYAP.

The last one I did I got 15kg of FF 6mm for $70 delivered.

Infact I need more 3mm - If I get 15kg do you want to split it? By the time we've gone through 7kg of this stuff they'll be able to take 5mm (and I've still got 7kg of that left).

Actually dont worry - I've contacted Jan and will be getting 15/20kg of 4mm SS Spectra

WAY more than I need, I can offload 7-10kg at cost when it comes in, I'll let you know.

With trout, it is advisable to use floating pellets as they rarely eat the food once it reaches the bottom. So unless you want scoop out uneaten feed from the bottom of the tank during the cold winter, it would be best using floating pellets. In fact, best to use floating pellets for all AP fishes...

Ivan - skretting dont make the spectra pellet FF (Fully Floating) until at least 5mm. Anything less than 5mm is a SS (semi-sinking). Thats just the way it is smile.gif

The pellets dont sink immediately, more than enough time for the trout to smash the food. Common sense applies, only throw in as much food as the fish can eat in a short period. I throw in small handfulls every 20 seconds or so.

Also from my experiences trout go more wild on ss than ff - the ss seems to invoke more of a frenzy as they flash up and grab the food in mid-water and then smash the surface. Some days the trout can be spooked and less interested in hitting the FF where i can switch to SS and it gets them going nuts again.

Yes, hence why I buy a bag of Nova FF 3mm and a bag of Spectra FF 5mm. I use the same feed for barra, trout, silvers, goldfish and koi. Makes it easy.

Ah yeh fair enough, good idea. IIRC the Nova stuff has a slightly less percentage of protein but only marginally so.

Well the way things are going with the carbon tax, I think it would cost more than $2 soon... but then again, I get them for virtually free and fresh... only cut minutes before adding them to the dish... full of flavour... So yes only $2 a bunch maybe every fortnight? So that's $52 I have saved in a year... add the carrots that I have just harvested, the chinese cabbage and brocolli harvested a month ago...
