Hey guys
I'm currently a bum so now have ample of time on my hands.
So this is what I decided to do today, since I also have a spare tank in my shed.

Awesome, I have always wanted to try this.
How did you suck the air out of the tank?
And are you pumping water in there so you dont get a dead spot in the tank with low DO?

Thanks werdna!
Just experimenting at this stage which was why I used a smaller tank for this.
I tried using a hose to fill it up and hoped the pressure would push the air out becuase I had another tube in there to let the air out but gravity won in the end. So I ended up just manually sucking the air out and if you do take your mouth off from the tube make sure you cover the hole with your thumb to keep the air from getting sucked back in by gravity pushing the water back down.
I don't have any water being circulated in there but the fish go freely in and out which would mix the water a little and I will be putting more plants underneath to let them grow up, which again will hopefully stop the water from going bad in the dead spot. But will keep an eye on it to see if i have any problems.
Cheers

looks sweet . wonder how much pressure would be on the glass ?? im guessing it would be reverse pressure and would it be carring the load of the rest of the water in the pond?

the pressure would be the same as if it was full the normal way, just in the other direction. looks cool
there would be limited water movement so oxygen would be an issue I assume. a pump circulating water into the tank would be necessary in the long run I reckon.

When I was looking on fishchick's youtube channel I came across a vid of goldies swimming in a similar style tank. Looks very funky!

Sarahjayne don't you start! That's what all my mates say! hahaha
But like I keep telling them, for a bum I'm pretty busy! I help coach an under 16s afl team and meet up with uni mates.
I just went through a mid-life crisis.... quit my job, went on holiday, now just casually looking for another....
While I wait, I do stuff like upside down aquariums when it isn't raining
Cheers

Hey I'm not getting any younger! ;-)
Nope unfortunately won't be able to make it because of footy training tonight.
Fortunately, doesn't look like we'll make the finals so in a month or 2 I should be able to start coming
Cheers

hahaha i did it the easy way... submursed the tank totally in water then turned it upside down and lifted it to its final location on the stand (2 inches under the pond surface area)
