I've been given a 170L pons (70*70*35) and am considering livestock options - mainly for the purpose of mosquito control.

1)Ideally I'd like to avoid electric cables (which means no filtration/air pump).

Honey blue-eyes are an option.

I'm thinking of of paradise fish. I've been told these need to come inside during the summer.

2) If I do need a filter/pump what size would I need?

thanks

hate to burst your bubble but you will need to run some sort of filter/airation

I've got a few honey blue eyes I can give you Megan.

Another good fish for small ponds is White Cloud Mountain Minnows...maybe 10 or so in a pond your size

I think you'll be fine without filtration/aeration...keep the pond lightly stocked and put some nice lilies, reeds or whatever in to help keep the water healthy.

Thanks for answering, guys.

Arcturus, I'll pm you :-)

I'm thinking of extending the depth of the pond to 60cm with pond liner. At present it is only 35cm deep. How much wider should I make it? I'm thinking of having a "step" from the deeper part to the shallower part.

It will get morning sun and afternoon shade.

Thanks.
