in indonesia they have been hybridising a lot of the bichirs, they have made about 6 diff crosses i know of so far, some species they havent been able to mix tho, quite frankly bichirs are now so rare in WA,  ANY breeding bichirs would be good.., androo and jules have both been told by fisheries bichirs are not allowed in.

Bichirs on your side is not listed on the noxious list. Maybe what not is allowed is importing? But you would notice quite a significant number of baby bichirs showing up from unknown sources.

yeh some had made it thru recently but2 people both got same answer from fisheries saying any bichirs coming into WA would be destroyed, annoying since yes they arent on the noxious list, and i mean seriously, they are hard enough to breed as it is and who would actually release one into the wild!!!!!

Please revive the polypeterus in Australia for us Terry.

As for the fisheries query, I spoke to the head lady of daff, she said although not black listed, any polypeterus would be destroyed.
I don't know or care, I have been informed by them they will seize them if they see them, and since already losing 850 bucks myself for a bichir I'm not risking that.

My faith and hope now is with terry, he's bred a lot of the bichirs preciously and hopefully he can do it again.

I would like a bichir too. Shame they are so hard to get a hold of, and then there is having that amount of cash free at the time...

Sorry to hear about this Terry, always sucks to lose a fish especially rare ones.

 

Whilst i don't condone hybridisation I wish you all the best of luck with breeding your senegals, it would be a real shame to lose Birchirs from the hobby.
