Scientific Name: Iodotropheus sprengerae
Pronunciation: I-doe-tro-fee-us spring-ger-a
Trade Name(s): Rusty Cichlid
Distribution: Broadzulu, Chinyankwazi & Chinyamwezi Islands
Habitat: Rocky Areas.
Diet: Aufwuchs
Sexing: Males are an orange/purple color. The orange gives it's rusty appearance.
Females are similar to males, but not as intensely colored.
Maximum Size: 10cm
Temperature: 24 to 26c
pH: 7.5 to 9.0
Water Hardness: 300-400ppm
Availability: Commonly Available in Oz.
Comments: Iodotropheus sprengerae is a small Mbuna & at times very peaceful. This can be a problem when put with more aggressive species. Iodotropheus sprengerae was one of the first cichlids imported from the Lake.
