#360984 Fish Dying... Again

Posted by sandgroper on 09 April 2017 - 02:33 AM

Get yourself a water storage drum, age and treat your water in it before adding it to the tank. Your water will be a lot more stable this way and yes Safe is super potent do not over dose.

Build it so that the weight is pushing it together and transferring it down into the ground, not pulling it apart.

Perhaps the PCS could draw up a suggested price guide for pure breeds. Our bird club has this and it gives people a good guide of what a particular breed is worth   ( a starting point). Of course it is still up to the seller as some are better quality than others but it gives the buyer a understanding of the average price. I put the idea forward for the next committee meeting for discussion.

#358351 Canister Sucking Air

Posted by sandgroper on 07 January 2017 - 09:30 AM

Just replace the head seal and this time lube it from day one. Pre-filter the canister by placing a sponge on the in-take this will stop you from having to break the seal every couple of months to clean it. Which is over kill IMO, then all you have to do is replace the sponge with a clean one every 10 days or so depending on your set up. doing this you should only have to clean it once a year as your removing most of the waste from the tank every 10 days or so. So much easier and takes like 30 seconds to service your filter. If you go away on holidays as a precaution remove the intake sponges all together, to easy.

Plus you should clean them while you have the time and not wait until a problem arises because you then might not be able to attend to it straight away, prevention is the best policy. :agreed:
