Great start to the holidays! Went out in Jazz Charters today and we smashed the pinkies! Got my PB of 80cm and everyone on board bagged out by 6:30am! They gave a hell of a fight and I hooked 3 and landed 2, the 3rd one I hooked just have been a beast as it completely straightened out my hook! All caught on soft plastics! Yeeeew!

#352499 Red Hump Bloating

Posted by Michael the fish fanatic on 02 June 2016 - 03:40 PM

He could be bloated because of the bloodworms as bloodworms have little a little hook which could of got caught on his stomach or intestine and is blocking it. Best this to do is feed some peas as dicky said and maybe try massage his belly gently to try help his wast from coming unstuck. Also try doing and epsom salt dip, i did this with my greedy ranchu which i once fed too much too him at once and it worked along side with the peas and massaging. What you do for the dip is add 1 tablespoon of epsom salt per 4 litres and leave the fish in the soloution for about 20-30min and maksure to keep and eye on him if he's realy taking it badley take him out early and try a slightly lower dosage. try doing a dip a day until he gets better. Hope this help fix him

I went for a bit of a fish NOR and caught a little pinky, so hopefully there is some hope for the snapper stocks, but even though there is a lots of young ones around the place, snapper like bream take forever to grow and mature, so I think they should put even more restrictions of snapper fishing just until the stocks come back up and are more stable.

Was fishing at my secret bream spot today and guess what I got? 2 trumpeter a mullet and a .......... 35cm blackie to the fork!! On a size 1 hook trying to catch mullet out of a big school that was there.hahaha my PB blackie to date :)!! My 1-3kg rod was bending 90 degrees hahaha, great fight! When I saw it emerge I was shaking not to loose it.hahaha. I put her/him back to fight another day and repopulate our systems :). I saw plenty of bream fry around so looks like the river is alive and well :)!

#346427 200L Tank Suggestions

Posted by Michael the fish fanatic on 02 November 2015 - 10:32 PM

Quote"4+ Geophagus and 8+ Large tetras (Lemon/Congo ect)

6+ Angel fish 2+ bristlenose/whiptails

Maybe 6+ Apistogramma 2 male and plenty of females (heavily planted, not really an option) "

Sounds kinda overstocked for a 200l, maybe just 2 geos, 2 angels, 4M convos, a trio of apistos and a cleaner BN would give them a nice amount of room and they'll be very happy :)

Was fishing in the swan today and caught a couple trumpeter, bream and got my first ever Flathead! It was 37cm so legal, but I put it back for good luck, gave a nice fight and hooked it on the fall of the cast :)!
