Going alright man, growing well but have been battling with some kind of irritation that is making him mouth his food heaps prior to swallowing it. He also has been making a series of mouth extensions in very quick succession when he sees food and immediately hides. It's a weird one! I've tried salt and internal parasite meds so far. Going to try levamisole next and see if that is successful. Hopefully I can get him all sorted soon!

Yeah that is a strange one.
Good luck with it, such a great looking fish you've got! Mine has had some fairly persistent flukes but seems to be a thing of the past now.
Im starting to question the reputation they have for being super hardy in aquariums.

My last one never had any problems except for injuries from being an idiot. Once they get to 20cm they are bulletproof unless you do something very wrong.

Chris and olli from aquotix hooked me up with it. None of us saw the colour till I put him in my big tank and power fed him for a week. Fins went bright yellow and he's just getting more and more yellow as he gets older. Hopefully whatever is bothering him now doesn't get any worse, would love to see what this guy looks like at 50cm!

Not really mate just growing and slowly gaining confidence. Still hasn't really come out of its shell properly yet but I'm starting to hear it smashing the water surface at night so I'm sure it won't be too much longer. Still no red pigment on it at all but the yellow seems to have gotten a bit dull. I'm hopefull it'll come back with maturity as the red does in normal ones.

I feel like it needs tank mates to chase and terrorize in order for its confidence to grow. The only things that stand a chance at survival are monos or scats, both of which are expensive for what will eventually be a sacrificial school :/
