sorry to hear your having troubles with your new cannister filter.I have never had Aquaone but the same rules apply to most.
are you sure it is leaking at base? Most common problem would be not efficient seal between pumphead and cannister, try wetting o-ring and try again. Or leaking from taps and water running down externally gathering at base. Re-check connections and try again.
If you are sure it it leaking at base, that doesn't sound good, can you see any cracks in cannister.
If so return it to place of purchase would be my best advice.
hope this helps some
cheers

If the canister itself is cracked I have a spare one you can have, with mine, the motor is dead. Just let me know & I can bring it to the April PCS Meeting for you.

Try this option first.....if there are no visible cracks on the base of the canister then this is more than likley the issue.

why would you bump this? because its changed to an air leak?
its caused by air sucking through the sides of your canister
it sounds as if you have a bad or loose conection fitting that join the head to the base, check them for cracks.
otherwise you had an air lock or simular that has displaced your o-ring again,no to the vasaline idea
you might find yourself spending hours getting it right, tricky buggers

Out of Eheim and Fluval I would go Eheim. I have a Fluval 305 and whilst there are no problems, priming it is a real hassle. Plus they use weird ribbed hoses.
I have an Aqua One 2400 that leaks from time to time.
None of my Eheims have any trouble

I've had a Aqua One Aquis 2400 for about 1.5 months now, and it is really great. I was a little bit hesitant about buying it, but am quite happy with it now. Plus I got it on special for $300.

yeah mine is really quiet it was good. until its started leaking because my tank was 2 high up. then when i put it up higher it started sucking in air but i think that is my crapy strainer(its in 5 separate parts.) soon fixed that hopefully. but over all i think they are ok. but i have the cf series not the newer ones. but still its nice and quiet and does the job .

Good to hear that you've isolated the problem Yeah, mine is one of the new model ones. I have heard about the earlier models having problems with leaking. Apparently they had identified this issue, and tried to resolve it with a tighter seal? Infact when I first got mine home I couldn't get the top to seperate from the canister! It took a lot of elbow grease, and a bit of soft encouragement from a screwdriver to get it open. Several 'opens' later and it is better, but still not the easiest job in the world to get off. Mind you, I would rather it be like that, than wake up with 450L of water all over the floor!
