The talk will be performed by various committee members.
This will be a perfect opportunity to get a feel for what is required to build and maintain a fish shed / room.
Feel free to list your questions here prior and to also get involved during the night for some in-depth discussion!

can i put some painted marine ply over my shady concrete pavers??? or do i need to get a slab poured???
can you pour a concrete slab inside an already set up shed?
basically questions focused on converting a garden shed to a fish shed... not all of us get to start from scratch and do it properly

I'm really sorry to be missing this one, but I'll be all at sea: literally, as I'm off on a short ocean voyage on Sun for a couple of weeks. I have (almost) finished my new shed.... my third, and I feel that I may have some useful input (mainly in NOT what to do ..oh well).

Have a great trip! Sounds fun
Since you can't make it how about answering some of the above questions and PM'ing me? I can refer to them on the night and pass them on as "Syd's recommendations or do's and don'ts".

Possibly straying a little but i'd love to know from those with past experience where to source items fairly cheaply that are needed in constructing the fish room. EG skins from austral are aparantly just thrown out for free. Bulk buying opportunities for media / filters / food etc from sponsors. The savings here and there from people who have done the work to run around and compare prices could in the end provide that extra bank/tier of tanks for the same price. Heck just today after searching 5 - 8 places for something to store my waste water for later use on the garden, i came across some 2nd hand IBC containers (1000L capacity) for only 50 bux... all i had found before that were 220L containers from bunnings for double that price.

The company is called Brunnings, they are located in Wangara NOR. I picked two up today $50 per. (also stopped by a salvage yard in the local area and they wanted $250 each)
They order in two types of chemicals, 1 is a soil wetting agent basically like a detergent. The second is a weed killer.
For my waste water i grabbed the IBC's that contained the wetting agent. If these can be purged with chlorine or something to make it safe for fresh water i dont know? maybe someone can answer, i'll find the actual chemical stored in the drum at some point and list it.
I mentioned there may be interest from others and they were happy to sell to public.
Just call 1st and ask for availability, also if you dont want ones that used to store weed killer your best to check they have any.
