Canning Vale residents would know that Kambo's has a giant salt water aquarium in their store. Massive wall tank. I heard they put a for sale sticker on it. $200k gets you the lot, including rocks and fish.

My question: How on earth would you even transport the thing??
It would have to be completely disassembled and rebuilt at a different location. But even the panels themselves must weigh a crapload! Would be interesting to see if they actually sell it. Maybe another business will buy it.
Got any spare room and cash Pacco? LOL

200k is a dreamers price, I'll be impressed if they get half that.

They have priced it 200 k
They probably paid 250-300 k for it.
So, they want 200 k now.
(All very rough guessing of coarse).

It's probably going to cost 100-150 k to dismantle, remove, relocate then resurrect it, maybe cost more.
I agree Alex, it's near on worthless.

The cost of dismantling, relocating is probably the same cost in labour as the all the materials new delivered to where it needs to be.
Things like this putting together is always easier using brand new material.
Putting old materials back together need more prep work before re-use.
So may cost more for putting together.

Posted a thread on it a while ago, if anyone wants to see the pix.

I understand Kambo's in Malaga has one as well.

I have NFI how much it costs them to run, but I'd bet it is not cheap. Maybe they are trying to economize, with retail being a bit tough.

I can't remember where I saw it and I am sure that Pacco will correct me if I am wrong, but I think the tank at veba's cost about $400k to setup with close to 1 tonne of live rock in there... So $200k plus about $100k to dismantle and set up again, could be a good price.

no way in the world it would cost $150,000 to dismantle, If they are going to pay someone that amount I would be willing to do it for half that price and hire some $20 per hour labourers for a week.

Impressive size tank. Be better if it wasn't marine. Seen so many of these bad boys up for sale lately! What a pain in the arse it would be to sell! Glad I got out of marine after keeping a moon wrasse ten plus years ago. Wouldn't even want to think about the amount of worthless shit I would of gathered by now!

Ours was a lot less than $400k, but a lot more than $40k wink.gif Hell, there was over $500 at cost just of silicon in our tank...
I doubt they will get anywhere near what they are trying to get for it - as most people looking for something in that sort of range are going to want to get it custom made to their location.

Cheers
Pacco

Your right, but what about relocating, re-assembling and all the prep work.
What about moving the live rock, the fish establishing the cycle before life introduction.
This is a specialist thing that comes at a hefty labour cost.
No way would I dabble in that using back yard cowboys for $20 per hour.
Any pro doing this would go through correct channels.
Always so much more to it than what the amateur sees.
This would likely need to be re-submitted for engineering approval to depending on the type of construction.eg (are the shop walls integrated) ?
Specialist skills fetch high rates.

i agree,no one's gonna wan't to mess around with that ,i think. very limited to who can afford, house and spend the extras of taring down and putting it back up,the logistics would be a pain in the ass, that's for sure.

I'd say that's why there trying to off load it Andy (the running costs), it's probably dragging the shop down in this climate.

Ye running it wouldn't be cheap and i would say selling due to samsung maybe not putting anymore money into it as i did notice it isn't called the samsung tank anymore.

But something like that would also bring people into the shop aswell.

I did one in a surf shop and the amount of extra people who go in and then buy something after looking at the tank and then seeing something they like is astounding i have been told.
