Scientific Name: Dimidiochromis strigatus
Pronunciation: Dee-midd-e-o-cro-mis stree-gar-tus
Trade Name(s): Sunset Hap
Distribution: Lake-wide distribution.
Habitat: Sandy areas
Diet: Small cichlids & invertebrates.
Sexing: Males have a metallic blue body with a red spot behind the gill covers.
Females are silver with a black stripe running the whole body length.
Maximum Size: 25cm
Temperature: 24 to 26c
pH: 7.5 to 9.0
Water Hardness: 300-400ppm
Availability: Available in Oz.
Comments: Dimidiochromis strigatus has a deeper & less compressed body than Dimidiochromis compressiceps

I have seen some Dimi Comp x Red Empress hybrids around (well apparently that is what they are) and they are the only hybrid I know that looks quite nice.


Could these just be the Strigatus?
