ok so missus says to me i want my own setup i say ok find this tank but has what im guessing is a home made filter job has 2 holes cut in glass at back has a glass box in cupboard with what looks like retic pipe and a eheim power head that sits in the bottom is this goin to be any good or do i plug the holes and use a cannister filter or use this home made one i know the system im leaning to but want a few more opinions first lol

Sounds like a sump set up. Throw up some pics so people can give you advise on weather it's worth keeping or not.

i cant put pics up via iphone but yes its a sump set up of some sort lol im leaning to removing it

Use the photo bucket app very simple to use.

You can still use the drilled holes to connect to cannisters, i'd use the exsisting holes. cheers Steve

good thinking steve, the only problem is the holes are different heights. the hole on the right side is lower i wont be able to fill the tank up much. the top of the hole is about 100mm below water line. should i jst plug that one and use the existing higher one

Plum the lower hole going into your cannister and your cannister outlet into the higher hole

is the lower glass box a fully sealed box? if soo i would stack this full of foam and some nice media ie efimech etc and use it as a sump.

Lower one add elbow and run pipe down to the bottom this will be the intake. Use the top hole for the inlet, you can get all the fittings from a retic shop. cheers Steve
