hey,
Alright before i start mucking around with the tank i thought i'd tank some before pics. The specs are:
Fluval 404
Fluid bed filter
Azoo spheres (fertiliser)
2 4ft fluoros
and no co2

I will be removing the large round piece of wood on the left and adding pressurised co2, plenty of ferts and another 5 x 4 ft fluoros to make a total of ~ 280 watts

Heres a before pic of the whole tank

Nice pleco,i would of thought a pleco that size would of munched on the plants.
How big is your tank?
The wood work looks good.

Did you use a tripod or rest the camera on something, looks a little shaky.

its a 4x2x2 im hoping to get bigger soon, and sorry i didnt use a tripod just took them then. I'll put another wicked picture of the pleco up soon and he only eats fluffy stuff like cabomba or whatever its called

Your crypts look awesome, if you've got runners of those or wish to rid them do let me know, i could always use crypts!

With a 4 x 2 x 2, proper lighting/filteration/fertilisation/adequete c02, the odds of a fantastic scape are amazing! Lemme know if you need some inspiration! I've got heaps of links online!

Hey,
I just chucked on all 7 fluoros to see if they fit, I think the fish may need sun glasses! I've got 2 gro-lux tubes, 2 aquastars, 2 NEC tr-phosphors and 1 coralstar/actinic.

What is the tank volume?

If you have 2.5wpg plus, you will undoubtedly run into algae problems without CO2 & some faster growing plants.

My 70L tank is a jungle at the moment, I'll have a bunch of Hemianthus micranthmoides to get rid of in the next couple of weeks, possibly some Glossostigma elatinoides too.

Oh yeah, plants + plecos = no more plants.

Ditch the pleco and get some Otocinclus sp., PADC has some at the moment.

Hey,
I should be getting pressurised tomorow, the pleco has to stay its a long story my mum just thinks i'm looking after it! lol but i actually bought it and cant sell it because it now a family member. I'm sure i could take some glosso off your hands hopefully i can swap some stuff soon.

No offence taken, but so far he has only eaten really fine leave plants, i guess i will see how he goes when my plants rock up but he has been fine so far.

Hey,
I got the co2 set up today and amm running the bottle outside with the hose coming into my bedroom throught he window then into the tank. Thanks to punie for getting the stuff for me at short notice. I will post pics soon it will be really messy with no design although i will try to show what kind of design i'm aiming for.

Do thanks your folks for me for their hospitality, never got to see them on the way out.

You've got a setup with GREAT potential, just start slow and get the hang of it first, then venture and discover more about what's possible and what's not.

I'd still stick with Congos! But that's just me. Lol
And yeah, the clumsy character of a pleco has to go i'm afraid!

Hey,
I love the congos but this is gonna be a discus and planted tank discus first then plants have the priority, i'm just worried about congos getting all the food. So if anyone wants 10 large congos they may be going soon. Oh and how does a school of 30+ rummynose and 20+ cardinals and a few discus sound instead of the pleco and congos . The pleco will probably go outside once i get back to school and build a stand.

the congos are mine!!! i need some as compensation to the dogey heater! hows 40 degrees sound in a tank? ehehe, oh well, only 3 casualtys :roll: and afew neons, they dont realy count as fish though

Rummy nose tetras go really well with discus. I've got a school of 20 with my discus.

Hey,
First off I'm stoked I've only had the co2 running for 2 days and already the riccia and java fern are pearling! Here's the specs are these normal?last night(1 day of co2) pH~6.5 KH~60 ppm
this morning pH~6.3
now pH~6.0 KH~80 ppm
P.S. the plecos been good so far(going asap)
