Thanks all.
No worries Mike i will save you some hair grass.
The reason for no fish is,When i did some in they all went to sleep to much CO2 at night

How long after you started did the fish go to sleep. I doubt that you will get enough co2 from DIY for that to happen. If the tank is stable, give it a go again.

What about an airstone set on a timer to come on at night? and turn off a few hours before lights on should leave adequate co2 and o2 in the water biggrin.gif Would also love some hairgrass as well if you have some spare(unfortunately nothing to swap though  )
Thanks
Matt

Was this in the first 2 days of setting up the tank?

This is a small tank and if you had 8 fish in there the first couple of days that is bound to happen. Has the tank cycled yet?

This tank has been setup about 2.5 month's ago, I put the fish around the 2 month mark.
The fish were harliquin's?,There is enough plants to support 8 small fish cycled or not.

That is really odd. Could you please share your DIY recipe. Would be good to know how to generate that amount of CO2 on the cheap.

They sell really cheap self sustaining CO2 kits that just need sugar and something else. I have seen em around.

They looked like a little plastic box with a diffusor and a long airline tubing wrapped around it with a reactive compounds in it.

i couldnt imagine it is too hard to make one yourself.

Hmm...... standard recipe. Wonder how come you are getting so much CO2 . What type of yeast are you using? Can I get some from you? I am toying with the idea of starting a smaller tank as well.

Smaller tanks are easier and if you want to change it around it's not day's worth of drama.
I'm using commercial yeast,There is a place in osborne park call superstock They should be able to sell you a 500gm packet,Once open you need to keep it in the fridge.
The domestic Yeast should be ok just use about 50 gm's.
