I've had fish go missing, but usually they turn up as a corpse, hidden away in plants. Have you dismantled the filter pump (if its internal) and all the filter.

1. I know very little about BN, but I've always been told they are gentle and just like to clen the bottom of the tank of leftover food and algae.

2. Can't help, but there is a topic on this forum with help on snails. I just scoop them out as much as I can and it seems to help.

3. I have some guppies from LFS and endlerXguppies that I'm getting rid of, I have offered them to a friend, but any he doesn't want ill give away for free.

4. Neon tetras and cardinal tetras are pretty (but prefer PH7.0 or less). mollies and swordtails come in bright colours and enjoy same conditions as guppies. Betta (siamese fighter fish - you can put 1 and only 1 of these in a community tank, tank should be at least around 40L. you should have them in a clear container first to see if it tries to attack/get at the other fish. I have a bright red veiltail named Gremlin who lives with my male guppies and tetras and cherry shrimp very happily, worst that ever happens is he eats one or two shrimp.
Another option is to make a sorority tank, which is 6-8 female bettas in a tank with lots of plants. very pretty.

Make sure you dechlorinate your water and get a test kit to test ph and ammonia at the very least, livebearers in my experience do best at PH7.0 - PH7.2. Don't over feed, and feed good quality foods.
Recommended temp for guppies is 23C - 26C, but mine seem to do best at 26C-28C (IDK- maybe its because they are from thailand which is very warm). Just try to keep the temperature and PH fairly stable.

Hope this has helped, theres lots of people here who really know their stuff, have a read through the forums.

1st I want to know is it B/N tat eaten all my guppies? bristlenose can be responsible for eating small fry that sleep on the bottom of the tank overnight... particularly peppermint b/n but bigger commons/albinos have been known to do this... more of an accident as they munch munch munch crunch munch through algae

2ndly, how do you get rip of the snails, they are taking over now angry.gif this will depend on what varieties you have... if you have cone snails (mts) you may as well start a fresh and toss everything you cannot boil and thouroughly clean... some other varieties can be sorted using predator fish/snail

3rd, Do you know anyone with give out free guppies? or anyone selling cheap guppies? if you cant find any freebies close to home pm me and i'll sort you out some

4th, what other colour fishes can you suggest for me to add in guppies tank? fish with small mouths that dont want to eat guppies!!!

Going to be doing an order of Import guppies from Thailand, they are out of quarantine and will ship next week.

It's usually $55 per trio/ $38 per pair as stated on the videos. Plus split shipping.

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone is selling guppies? I've just started a 400L freshwater tank and have some guppies already but was looking for more brighter colours with the thought that they will breed. I'm hoping to not buy from pet shops and looking at about 10-20 in mixture of colours. I had a look at the imported trio's and although they are very beautiful i'm not wanting to spend that much money on only 3 fish. Hope someone is able to help me smile.gif
thanks

What's wrong with fish shops? I bought some a few years back from one of the sponsors (see top of page for sponsor fish shops) and they were colourful, and not expensive

Nothing wrong with the fish shops, Just the ones i've looked they are about $5-$6 each and not always the most colourful guppies so though id try here.
The guppies i bought (from gumtree) were 50 for $30 which was great. But i'm wanting to get some more with varied colours.

Ever since I was young, I've always found guppies to be quite entertaining. One of the first memories of raising fish was perhaps seperating a female from the group (put in a jar) only to find several babies swimming around with it in the next couple of days.

Some things that I have found with guppies.
1. The majority of them tend to swim around the top level of water. (thus the larger the surface area of the pond/tank, the greater the number of fish) Although I have found that keeping them in deeper waters do allow for more fish to be stocked.

2. Keeping males with males will develop a larger tail and more vibrant colours. (Yet to be 100% proven, but I'm pretty sure of it)

3. They interbreed really easily. (mixing colours and breeding lines)

4. They house well with pretty much any fish that can't eat them as fast as they can breed. I've seen them kept with some cichlids in a pond, and they've pretty much eaten all the guppies they can fit in their mouths, and more are still swimming around.
