And the wait begins... it usually takes longer to cycle a system in winter... but just think, this time next year, you will have trout in the tank and a feed next xmas.

Yeah, I'm expecting that.
I will be squeezing out all my filters for my big tanks into the growbeds, hopefully that speeds up the process.
Koi just arent the same as trout.
And they would have made a nice photo for the current photo comp too!

haha bugger that!, happy to swap some koi for some trout, i can pop the koi into the IBC's and still leave my pool for remainder trout. Theres a few monsters in the pool, i bought them as yearlings. and ~ 30 i got as fingerlings. but they look huge! hard to see through the sexy algae.

I havent got the dreaded algae yet.
I'll upload the first week progress shots soon smile.gif

Squeezing the filters into the growbeds seems to have helped, I am getting low ammonia readings, no nitrites, and some nitrates.
No massive spikes... Yet anyway!

I was going to buy a heap of fingerlings to over winter for next year, but am just too busy to sort out a tank for them.
Guess I will just have to eat Silver Perch next year instead

Update photos.
Ignore the blue tarp, I covered the tank from the sun to stop algae.
Barra are SOOKS! Bunch of girls!
They only feed at night when it is dark, but it is awesome listening to them vacuum suck smile.gif
The sun in the last couple of weeks has made the plants go nuts, but I am losing probably around 400L per day to evaporation!

Also you can see I have added a 500L sump to house ~40 silver perch and the remaining koi.

Looking for to 75 rainbow trout biggrin.gif

Cheers

Andrew
