Don't mean to be rude of any sort, and I'm not a ray person. But google those questions you'll be amazed with what comes up plenty of info on food etc, I know they like meaty stuff...

They eat anything meaty or fleshy, feed heaps and well varied...... Pellets are a good staple food, something form the Fishworx high protein range or hikari, carni and massi.

Mine get alternated days between pellets and frozen foods (including whitebait, prawn, squid and soon scallop and mussels hopefully). Pups should be fed at least twice a day as they appear to have a high metabolism.

Biggest tank possible (6x2 barely works for rays IMO), I have 2 rays (wanting to squeeze a third but unsure) in a 7x2.5 footprint and for me its full, I run 2 x 2700lt UVC canisters and 2 wave makers for additional flow so theres no dead spot in the tank and high surface water agitation and do 2 x 50% WC a week without fail, still battle to keep nitrates under 60 parts. I have no décor on the floor, as they need the space. Substrate is arguable, most say bare bottom is best as you can be sure the tank is free from detritus or nitrogenous waste build up. I like to use and think it maybe comforting to add a fine layer of substrate, as the rays will scavenge and bury in the sand. Heater guards are a must If your running in tank heaters, why spend hundreds on a fish to let it get burnt which can be avoided for 20 bucks, makes me angry haha. And cover filter intakes, I have heard rays get discs struck by the intake pipes and causing a scar.

Sumps would be best IMO, maybe Alex can expand as his got far more experience and knowledge with rays. can use more media, clean easier etc etc. plus canisters are know to be 'nitrate factories' at times.

You can tell when there not happy, but you have work cut out for you if you get one, consistent care and routine maintenance is critical. And they grow big, cant stress that enough to people.

Great fish, probably the most interesting, majestic fish I've ever kept and my number 1 favorite in aquaria.
