No leaks on large canister filter.

Lights on, no CO2 yet.

But got everything sorted and pretty much put away. Thank goodness.

Tank full to top.

Bolbitis in middle. Kept half the java fern.

Piled up driftwood in centre but hard going one-handed.

Backing does need replacing.

Almost forgot - ceiling much shorter in this new place

CO2 connected up and running. Couple of hours - mainly putting stuff away and connecting fittings behind tank.

Do CO2 bottles go ok with rental inspections??

Equipment:

2 filters (canister and internal).

2 heaters.

2 CO2 diffusers and ph controller.

2 lights.

Once set up it just runs along except filling bottle every 6 months.

Throw out backing on bin day.

Resist temptation to add more substrate.

Found the TDS meter I bought last year.

Also found the planter boxes I bought when had run out of room and was going to attach these via the suckers to glass sides (as you do). Will keep them for buce as kept the planted tank substrate from small tank.

Lost the other larger angelfish. I wonder if from moving and plus then we lost power overnight this weekend. Other fish fine, ammonia just a touch (hard to tell in light but looks like still re-establishing). Hoping it is a one off.

Just realised I was told the garage was sprayed for pests and I had the canister filter hoses in there as well. Did wash them out but I wonder.

Is that t5 light high output? if so, it shouldn't be resting on cover glass. have you got acrylic legs to put on the light?

and if you want some more anubias nana and some bolbitis let me know (free of course)

Might need some anubias - has been mauled by fish as tank was left to itself a bit while shifting :) I’ll PM if doesn’t come back for sure. Thanks!

It is a t5ho - it sits on tank rim (just). Was on legs but dropped it down as gained 10% PAR and reduced the reflection off Perspex covers. I’ll have to look - have a suspicion legs may have been thrown. Idk, I chucked a lot out while shifting. I either hoard stuff for ages or have a big throw-out of anything.

All bit of a mess really.

Yeah I gave all my aquarium safe snail shells away and now that I have Multies again, I can’t find any shells for less than the price of an arm and a leg! Amount of other stuff I’ve hoarded is ridiculous. I may even have spare legs for your light.... if I haven’t turfed them. I’ve got suction caps for heaters, buffers I don’t use, and the list goes on

Actually got half empty drawers at the moment but two laundry tubs are full of ferts and spare equipment. I don’t think those should count?!

Once I know the tank is completely cycled I think I will turf the gravel and put in the substrate I want. Re-arrange the driftwood better.

Finally did a water change and realised I need to get a proper step ladder. Rather than the outdoor ladder where a little easy to put a leg wrong going up and down it. On the good news side I didn’t hit my head on the roof this week lol.

Checked the bolbitis and the brown algae is actually looking like nutrient deficiency with holes in leaves and looking re-absorbed. Which should be an easy fix to start ferts dosing and testing again. Check light settings as well. Get the routine back.

Only one angelfish ended up swimming inside the gravel vac this week so hopefully they are getting bored with doing that.

Started ferts dosing again last night. Potassium mainly plus phosphate. Test readings were ammonia - slight tinge I think still, nitrates - none, phosphate - 0.5ppm.

Almost suspect it’s the same culprit each week. And egged on by his/her mates outside the gravel vac.

On the good news side starting to get the water changes sorted.

And still tempting to swap substrate out over Easter.

Added to that just watched a yoyo loach swimming madly around a piece of floating, vertical cuttlebone for 5 minutes. I have a suspicion it thought its tail was another loach but who knows ...

No more fish lost - yay!

Ammonia and nitrite 0ppm. Checked ammonia against tap water and pretty sure both 0 (always have trouble with colours).

Tap ph much lower in new place - around 7.5 straight from tap. Old place was 8.2 and it settled to about 7.8 ph. I’ve left some cuttle bone in tank.

Tank ph from probe and pen fairly close at 6.9 to 7ppm.

Nitrates 0ppm. Dosed 1.5ppm off Calc app and got a nitrate reading between 0 to 5ppm. So will increase nitrate dosing (feel like I might as well just get more fish!).

Phosphate 1ppm.

Yet to check kh, gh, TDS. Then dose kh maybe.

Plants don’t look very good. Hoping the nitrate dosing will help.

Left backing as got told this would help protect on scratches when shifting again. Still thinking. Still to get to shops.

Kh was about 6 to 7 on JBL proscan / api.

Gh 7 on JBL (api test kit expired a year ago oops).

Tds - tap 240ppm

Tds - tank 250ppm.
Not really sure if that is good or bad TDS.

Well not sure where the weekend goes - another water change done. All goes well with fish, plants not so well so waiting still to see if they improve. Next week a week off so perhaps time to redo tank.

Noticing some green algae start to show on the glass after starting nitrates dosing. Not too bad but hoping that means the plants will start doing better as well.

Pulled the java fern and bolbitis out and cleaned them up. Rearranged the wood pile while I was at but pretty similar to before.

The ferts dosing has been helping. Plants looked better than before.

Thought about adding more substrate but couldn’t be bothered in the end.

Did add an anubias coffeefolia plant and hopefully it does well.
