Hey everyone I'm Joel,

I have been browsing these forums for a while now, so I thought I'd say g'day! I live with Jarrod who is also on here. I started off with a 2ft tank with some Elec Yellows/Red-tailed sharks/BN etc but I soon discovered Tiger Oscars, bought two at 5cm, then moved them into a 4ft (~250L) tank where they got to about ~30cm ea. Between the 5 of us housemates we have 8 tanks running plus a few spare.

This is my pride and joy is a 6ft 500L + 60L sump, which is currently home to a Saratoga Leichardti (20cm), three Murray Cods ~15cm each (currently for sale) and two Motoro Stingrays (1x male, 1x female), which I bought as 14 week old pups not too long ago. I'd say they'd be roughly 6 months old by this point. The female is approx 20cm in diameter and the male is about 15cm. I've been told they take about 1 or 2 years for them to mature, my end game is breeding them.

I have just purchased 4x peacock bass juveniles (5cm) from Vebas, which reside in my 3ft tank (~100L), below.

I'm still trying to stabilize their diet. I haven't sexed them yet but I bought them to breed. I have other tanks with mollies/guppies etc which reproduce like crazy, They're giving me some breeding practice before I give the P-Bass and Rays a run.

Cheers guys,

Joel

Welcome Joel,

You have some of my all time favourite fish.
How much are you selling the cod for?

welcome.

nice, we got similar fish, bass wont be sexable to a good 15-20cm, even then can be hard as I have had females with small humps like the males.

another person with rays, awesome. you haven't noticed rashes or cut up discs on the rays with the abrasive rocks?

Thanks for all the replies lads, you're a very welcoming group of enthusiasts!

@malawiman85 - I'm not really sure how much they are worth, I bought them for $40ea as juvies and they're getting pretty big now (roughly 15-17cm), so probably $50 ea but I'm open to offers!

@mattymak - my tank is 6ft long, 450mm deep and 640mm high.

@jules - yeah it's so frustrating not being able to sex the peacock bass yet (other than venting - I don't want to risk stressing them out doing this), but hopefully there is a combo of genders out of the 4. Nope I haven't noticed any rashes or anything like that on the rays as of yet! They've got plenty of room :)
