I use a hydroponics bucket, 30lts and a small rubber grommet in the base, jam the hose in and do about 15kgs at a time

Ive used this method before with gravel but I see alot of fine sand floating around when i do it with this sand, is the goal to remove this fine sand too?

Thanks.

Would probably work man, could actually use some coarse aquarium sand to clean them in there! You'd just have to sort out the ratios so you didn't end up with mashed mussels :)

I've used gin gin river sand. I cleaned a half bucket at a time with a hose for a few minutes until the water was a little clearer than I started with. I had no problems with it settling, and few years on, still no problems. It's an awesome looking substrate
