I breed guppies in 10000 liter ponds, In summer they are very prolific but in May they start to die off so thats when I sell cheap "feeders" to the LFShops. Some of the guppies survive the winter and these become next years breeders, If you try to keep guppies in small outdoor containers over winter the temp fluctuations will wipe out you stock. If you keep them in a well protected area you might get away with it. My stock has survived 8 winters and I believe they are becoming acclimatised to Perth. They can only be purchased from your LFS

The foot print of a large pond ( surface area ) is a lot larger than an aquarium, therefore a greater area for gas exchange (oxygen ). However if it's over stocked or on the small side i'd recomend airation. cheers steve
