wouldnt a tank with a curved front glass be stronger because theres less silicone joins?

there is actually more joins depending on the type of bayview. for example.
mine has 2 flat pieces before it curves, and i'd say this would be the same for the 6footer, but not too sure. plus the base of the glass is usually extended with a premade curve to allow for the shape of the bayview.

Guys,

The tank that failed is NOT curved. It's a normal rectangular tank with the front corners cut off to create two 45 degree flat panels. Like the baywindow of a house.

I'm not a fan of curved glass.... I think it distorts the view, but thats just my opinion...

ah fair enough Rob. i can understand at this point as to why it may have let go then. given your tank size, to have that pressure on those corner pieces over time would be very stressful. although no more so than normal corners

I know this is a old thread, but I bought a bayview tank recently. The front is curved and fits in a corner(3 pieces of glass used). Its a Aqua one 501 or something like that.Has anyone had one of these leak?I am a little worried after reading about this thread.

my tank only has 2 vertical joins. the front corners are curve. there no upper reinforcing except an aluminim frame around the top that supports the hood.. i should have too many worries with this should it?

I seriously think that this is the most popular thread on the site haha! So rob did you end up getting a new tank? considering this happend almost a year ago it would be fairly established?
