odd ones about and your looking at 1-1.5k each depending on size/quality.... biggest factor in finding one/some is just getting lucky when someone shuts down their fish room... most people dont sell them and hoard them like gold....

With big money, comes bigger scams.

thats only relative to what you earn/own... my 5 year old boy would scam your 5 year old boy (if we had 5 year old boys!) for $50 and your boy would be devastated.... if i scammed you for 100k then you'd be devastated too... 5 year old loses 10c and hes pissed but its not the end of the world.... if you lose 1k on a fish you'd be pissed too but you'll survive and get over it....
if i was a billionaire and lost a million bucks i'm not worried about it....
moral of the story there are scammers everywhere and they will try to scam you for whatever they can... 5 year old $50.... you 100k....me 1mil.... just because a fish costs more doesnt mean your chances of being scammed go up proportionally....
i have bought many 1000's of $$$ worth of fish and never lost a dollar or didnt receive fish...
if your buying fish in person theres no chance your going home with no fish and losing your money...

These rare plecos fetch more scammers in my opinion. I put up an ad a few years ago about some phantoms. A guy called Les called, said he had every rare pleco I can think of, even super reds. Gold nuggets too but haven't bred. But when asked for pictures or any more details, nothing. So hey, just be careful.

To answer your question Corn, I haven't seen or sniffed the likes of Gold Nuggets in several years. I don't think anybody has collected and bred them. Try emailing aquaticfever. He might have some leads.

Thanks for the replies guys, figured they would be hard to find here in Oz. Pretty common in the UK, although still quite expensive.
Maybe set my sights a bit lower, in the pleco order of things.
Thanks again for the wise words.
