Hi,

I have a 200lt tank, had some issues with the ammonia i think due to several reasons:

1. overcrowding

2. overfeeding

3. large water changes

4. washing both subersible filter sponges in clean tap water.

I'm trying to start my tank again, will let it run for a few weeks and get a better filter however i would like some advice on how much fish i can have in approx. a 200lt tank without overcrowding.

i have approx. a 200 litre tank. I had left it quiete a while before doing a water change. When i did a water change a found a baby bristlenose (yay). However after i did my water change/gravel clean i had huge issues with my fish. They all went really lethargic and gasping.

I had my water tested and was told the nitrate was too high, so was advised to do a 25% water change which i did.. the next morning the tank was extremely cloudy and i had lost 7 of 10 fish

Ive tried everything and adding different things the pet shop gave me, i have moved out the three surviving fish into another tank i have set up while i try to get the water right.

The water is still cloudy and i have no idea why or what to do. i had it tested again and was told the ammonia was too high, was given some stuff and over night it done nothing.. still cloudy..

any suggestions? thanks

Type of fish: green terror, jack dempsey, oscars, red tailed shark, algae eaters
Symptoms: gasping, gasping up the top of the water, lethargic, cloudy water
Tank size / capacity: about 200 ltrs
Feeding frequency/amount: 1 teaspoon once a day
Type of filtration: submersible filters

Last water change: friday

Water temp: 26 degrees
