Hi, long time lurker, and PCS member who doesn't get leave time to come to any of the meetings.

Saw the festae alert below, and being a fan of the bigger tankbusters, just wanted to know if anyone has seen any tetracanthus in the shops lately. Or if they are appearing on the wholesalers lists.

Carry on.

At the risk of being boring, maculicauda, though I've pared down to only a couple of the better fish bred in my larger tank at the moment. There are a few small ones around the shops currently and I'm going to sneak a couple of the more likely ones into the tank next month.

They are a great fish though, robust and attractive, unfairly deemed too aggressive. An old favourite sadly fallen out of favour.

I've got five large tinfoil barbs in there with them, which are also a great fish, swimming around full length in the mid-to-upper part of the tank. Keeps the other fish guessing, I believe.

Might just do that. With a bit of luck they won't be too closely related to mine.

The tank is a 6.3 x 2 x 2 running a fairly hefty trickle down filter. Two main dramas are stopping catfish from getting into the grommets which gravity feed out and down to the sump, and access from the top is, well, limited with my current cabinetry. A pain, in fact.

Otherwise basically looks after itself, which is a very good thing.

Just had a look at the ad in the quokka, it's for Lamprologus tetracanthus.

All the Cubans in Oz are related
they were bred from a group of 10
in that group there was ONE male which makes the
gene pool pretty skinny seeing as they have been
in the country for just over 15 years and no new
blood that I have heard of

Still plenty over in the east :good
