Hello.

I remember seeing at least 2 sites which had listings of marine fish (one in perth, one up north), but despite heaps and heaps of searching in google and yellowpages i cant seem to find them.

Anyone know of any australian sites (preferably WA) that have marine fish for sale? I am mostly interested in ones with websites as at the moment i am just interested in seeing whats available and how much. Plus i want to see if its possible to get a lionfish in WA :p

Try looking for RTAW (Reefing The Australian Way) or MASWA (Marine Aquarium Society of Western Australia). Theres plenty of marine freaks in WA, and alot of them visit the RTAW forums.

And yes, lionfish are common in most shops that deal with marines. Volitans are probably the most common, some of the smaller species can be harder to come by.

Heya

There is no substitute for looking at fish in person. Veba's, Perth Aquarium Center, Pisces and Rockingham Marine are shops that I have been to which sell decent fish (I would lean towards Pisces and PAC for quality, and Veba's for your lion / scorpion fish.)

Veba's also had stonefish, frogfish and devil fish last time I was in there, quite an experience. Also ray's and eels. Pisces has some beautiful morays too.

Enjoy

Is it as easy as such going and and paying to purchase such fish as lionfish, stonefish, rays, sharks and blue ringed octopus?

All these fish i have seen at vebas, and was just wondering if any license is recquired to have such venemous or dangerous species?:\

Heya

Good question. Perth Aquarium Center usually puts information about licence requirements on the information label's or such on the aquariums. I have never notived this to be the case with these fish.

Veba's has never indicated that a licence is required when I have enquired about these fish.

The only sure way to find out is to ring and ask. ** OK, visited Veba's and asked. No liscence is necessary!
