Hey all,

I am thinking of setting up a small aquaponics system in my back yard and was wondering if it is possible to get solar pumps for pumping the water from the pond tote growbed.

Thanks

Yes you can but they are usually low volume and low head height, they do not run at night and your filter needs to run 24/7.

Battery World and Jaycar sell them.

As do Bunnings.  They sell solar pond-fountains which add up to the same thing.  But what will you do when the sun don't shine?

And the last one I saw didn't self start after a flat battery. So every morning it had to be turned on.

Complete waste of money, should have spent the money getting a sparkie out instead to run a power point.

Bump Old thread.

Anybody gone solar? Pumps have low watt & high head height now, cheap too.
