when you moved him to a new aquarium, did you use a cycled filter?

Stop feeding prawns, these will cause trouble.

Seachem aquazole, you should be able to get it on ebay.

aquotix sell an off the shelf medication called intestinal hexamita clear which may be suited to your problem... its a product made by big fish... they also make internal parasite clear which i have used and works really well...  i have used dmz in the past when it was available and not so hard to get... i used dmz in conjunction with internal parasite clear and had success...

Try feeding beefheart. All fish do better on beef heart.
In fact, buying from the fish shop is a ripoff, so just get lamb heart from Coles for $3/kg and chop it up.

You never need to change water more than once a month. People that say otherwise probably work for Water Corp.

Imo water changes will depend on stocking and tap/tank water chemistry. Over summer here I have found regular, weekly water changes are needed to keep the kh up.

Do not feed your fish lamb, it is too fatty. Ask around for beef heart most butchers can get it for you.

The best way to treat flowerhorns is to put them in the freezer overnight, or feed them to your cat.

Last time we talked about flowerhorns the mods were specific about allowing posts dealing with treating illness. I hope that hasn't changed!

OP, if you still need meds, I have some aquazole here.

Illness posts are permitted (just goes to show what you can expect of fh) but as long as no one promotes the fish as anything more than a sick fish, we are ok.

or to my rtc :)

will take any size and quickly converted into nitrates to feed my back lawn after a water change....

oh dear thats a very disheartening post - if that was said on facebook you could expect a hoard of people ripping into you implying a total lack of fish knowledge - but hopefully that wont happen on here.... but i will say you need to learn a lot more about keeping fish and the nitrogen cycle and its effects on fish especially when ammonia/nitrite is present and when nitrate levels get high...

Guys if you hate fh that's fine, but can you lay off talking about killing someone's pet on an illness post, that's pretty unkind.
